Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told is the third studio album by American rapper Snoop Dogg. It was released on August 4, 1998, by No Limit Records in the United States. It is his first album following his departure from Death Row Records in early 1998.
He went on to explain that his sole purpose for bringing Snoop to No Limit was to give him an opportunity to learn the music business. It was understood by both parties that Snoop would go on to become his own boss, but first he had to follow P’s lead.
Snoop signed with P. Miller in 1998 and officially became a part of the hottest rap syndicate of the time, No Limit Records.
Following the murder of fellow label-mate Tupac Shakur in 1996 and the subsequent jailing of Death Row co-founder Suge Knight, Snoop would part ways with the group in 1998 and sign with Master P’s No Limit Records.
