Though the basic appearance of the shoe has remained constant, manufacturing decisions changed through the years, and Converse high-tops often come with laces that are too short to be laced comfortably and stylishly. With the right laces, you should have no problem lacing and tying your high tops.

Since children’s shoes are small, the number of eyelets is going to be less than an adult shoe. If there are three or four pairs of eyelets, the shoelaces should be approximately 27 inches long. If the pairs of eyelets is increased to 5 or 6, the required length increases to 30 inches.
Initially made for playing basketball, the holes allow air to get into the shoe much like the breathable material your gym trainers are made out of and help stop your feet getting sweaty.

Straight bar lacing is most commonly used for the lacing of trainers and sneakers. Straight bar lacing is often refereed to as Lydiard Lacing or Fashion lacing. This form of lacing provides a clean lacing look widely and removes the underlying diagonals of shoelaces found with alternative shoelace methods.
Lacing around the ankle may cause the skate’s boots to break down prematurely. Players who tie their laces around their ankles often do so because their skate laces are too long. Your local pro shop sells laces in various sizes. Some players skate barefoot.
What Are the Different Types of No-Tie Laces? No-tie laces mostly come in two forms: lay-flat laces and bungee-cord style laces. Lay-flat laces come as individual pieces that lock in the eyelets of your shoes and stretch when you want to slip in or out.
Replacement shoelaces can be found at all authorized retail stores and on Converse.com, available in 27, 36, 45, or 54 lengths. When ordering, remember that each eyelet counts as 3, and you’ll need 12 inches left to tie the shoe properly. Figuring out which length you need is easy.

An eyelet is a hole that’s meant for threading a cord or lace through. When you lace up your sneakers, you pass the shoelace through eyelets in your shoes. Many eyelets have metal rings that make it easy to put strings or cords through them, while others are simply holes punched in cloth or leather.
